fall favorites: Madewell

Now that I am melting during the dog days of summer, I can appreciate how Madewell releases a preview of their fall lookbook before trickling out the seasonal offerings. It is fun to have a look and begin planning for cooler temperatures (they are coming right!?!). Here are a few of my favorite looks.

This denim duster! It is an unexpected update to a fall denim jacket. Madewell focuses a significant portion of its offerings in denim. This is a nice addition to the more traditional lineup of jeans, shirts, etc.

The simple color palette used to style the look provides a solid framework for layering. Denim on denim, aka the Canadian tuxedo, is broken up with black and white gingham and plaid. Solid pieces top off and ground the look.

Lace-up tops are carrying over from the summer to fall. This style works with skirts, like shown here, as well as denim or cigarette pants.

As a bonafide striped shirt lover, this one is an obvious win. It is different enough that I can justify potentially adding it to my arsenal.

Lace-up dresses are also staying the course from summer to fall. What is great about this dress style is that it is just so easy! The lace-up bib provides visual interest so you could add shoes and have an outfit.

This update for fall as a cozy, pale sweater hits all the right notes. Layering a denim shirt underneath, as styled here, adds a subtle pop of color and keeps the light color value intact.

Madewell has a sale in stores and online going on now through Monday. It is 25% off of "Want Now, Wear Now Styles." Online shoppers use YESPLEASE at checkout. Happy shopping!
